New ‘Harry Potter’ Trailer Hits Web

Four months ahead of the anticipated release of the sixth movie in the Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” the film’s trailer has hit the Internet. The trailer will debut in theaters this Friday.

The 1 minute 30 second trailer features flashbacks to when Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) first meets an 11-year-old Tom Riddle (Hero Fiennes-Tiffin), the boy who would become Potter’s arch-enemy Lord Voldemort.

Police Say Crash Not LaBeouf’s Fault

Even though he was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor drunken driving, Shia LaBeouf appears to be in the clear as far as the accident he was involved in over the weekend.

The celebrity gossip site TMZ.com quoted Los Angeles Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore as saying that the other driver was responsible for the early Sunday morning crash by running red light.

“He was not at fault,” Whitmore said

Daniel Craig Among ‘Best-Dressed’

Vanity Fair looked all over the world to find the best-dressed men and one of them turned out to be Bond — James Bond.

Daniel Craig, the actor who played James Bond in “Casino Royale” and the upcoming “Quantum of Solace” is on the magazine’s International Best-Dressed List.

Also making the list are “60 Minutes” correspondent Morley Safer, rapper Kanye West, “Today” show co-host Matt Lauer and soccer star David Beckham.

The women’s list includes “Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker and “Michael Clayton” Oscar winner Tilda Swinton.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are on the list for best-dressed couples.

Man Wanted In Sex Abuse Case Turns Himself In To Police

NEW ALBANY, Ind. — An accused child molester in New Albany has turned himself in to police.

A warrant was issued for the arrest of 25-year-old Brandon Solether, but he turned himself in Tuesday.

Investigators said he had inappropriate sexual relations with two brothers at his home. The boys were 9 and 13 years old.

According to their mother, both children are mentally challenged.

The boys told police Solether showed them a shotgun and threatened to kill them if they told anyone.

8 Lawsuits Remain Unsettled In Comair Crash In Ky.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A published report shows only eight lawsuits have not been settled in the crash of a commuter plane in Lexington two years ago.

Ten lawsuits have been settled since July 17, when a federal judge ordered meetings between the families of those who lost relatives in the Comair crash and the airline.

Comair spokesperson Kate Marx said a total of 39 cases had been settled by Tuesday afternoon.

Louisville Fugitives Captured In Detroit

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After six years on the run, two Louisville fugitives are in jail.

U.S. Marshals said a tip from America’s Most Wanted led to the arrests of Lorenzo Curry and Janora Sanders at a Detroit apartment complex.

Curry has an extensive criminal record and was wanted for a counterfeiting scheme in which Sanders pleaded guilty.

Arrest Made In Slaying Of Pregnant Ky. Soldier

RALEIGH, N.C. — Police said a Fort Bragg soldier was charged with first-degree murder Tuesday in the death of a pregnant colleague from Kentucky.

Army Spc. Megan L. Touma’s partially decomposed body was found in a motel bathtub in Fayetteville more than a month ago.

Fayetteville, N.C., police said 27-year-old Edgar Patino of nearby Hope Mills was arrested at his home without incident just after 8 p.m.

Police said Patino is stationed at Fort Bragg, but they couldn’t provide his rank or unit.

Patino was being held in the Cumberland County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

Touma, 23, was from Cold Spring, Ky.

Report: Louisville Housing Market Avoided Slump

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville housing market stemmed the tide in the drop of home sales nationwide, according to a published report.

The Aug. 4 issue of BusinessWeek indicated that home prices may have further to fall throughout the country, but some cities “are defying the subprime slump.”

According to the BusinessWeek article, small builders watched the market and adjusted before the downturn, unlike builders nationwide.

The article cites a fast pullback by builders in Louisville when home sales in the area dipped in 2006. Housing permits at the time dropped by 40 percent in 2007, much faster than the national average, the magazine reported.

New Pediatric Emergency Center Opens

On Thursday, a newly renovated emergency center opened at UK Hospital specifically designed for children.

The Makenna David Pediatric Emergency Center is a renovated section of the hospital’s existing emergency center.

The center is equipped with 6 beds, a waiting room and a sedation room, set aside for young patients.

It is only the second pediatric emergency department in the state.

Last year, the emergency department at UK Hospital treated 45,000 patients, 10,000 of those were children.

Police Involved Shooting Victim Improving

A Lexington man shot by police during a domestic disput more thank two weeks ago continues to improve at UK Hospital.

Warren Doug Rayburn’s former father-in-law tells 27NewsFirst Rayburn is now out of a coma and starting to talk.

Police say Officer Matthew Jordan shot Rayburn several times on July 14th at Rayburn’s home on Arbor Way when he didn’t put his gun down.

Officer Jordan and the officer with him during the shooting are now on paid administrative leave.
