ATLANTA — After 50 years in the music business, Kenny Rogers is thinking about hanging up his microphone for good.

Rogers said that his next album may be his last. The 70-year-old country music legend cited family obligations, specifically his identical 4-year-old twin boys.

“They say having kids at my age either makes you or breaks you and I’m leaning heavily toward break right now,” Rogers said.

Rogers came out with a career retrospective CD this week called, “Kenny Rogers: 50 Years.”

The release is being sold exclusively through Cracker Barrel restaurants. The 12-track CD includes hits such as “Lucille” and “The Gambler,” and features three new songs. (Read the full post about ‘Kenny Rogers Ready To Quit Music Business?’…)

Review: ‘Disaster Movie’ Disastrous

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

‘Disaster Movie’ (PG-13)

“Disaster Movie” is aptly named. The movie is a disaster. It’s a mish-mash of pratfalls, gross-outs, little people, glam models, bad costumes and lame jokes.

The production had a lot of promise. Promoted as a movie made by the filmmaking team behind the hits “Date Movie” and “Epic Movie,” the spoof was supposed to poke holes and fun at the disaster movie genre.

The trailer for the film also showed that it would spoof some of the most recent movies playing at the Cineplex, including “Sex and the City,” “Wanted,” “High School Musical” and the multitude of action movies with superheroes, “Hancock,” “Hellboy,” “Incredible Hulk” and “The Dark Knight.”

“Disaster Movie” tries to have some semblance of a plot. (Read the full post about ‘Review: ‘Disaster Movie’ Disastrous’…)

Review: ‘Traitor’ Provocative Thriller

‘Traitor’ (PG-13)(out of four)

Samir is a practicing Muslim, and he is intimately involved in the ongoing war on terrorism. But while he’s certainly standing in the middle of it all, we can’t exactly tell what side he’s fighting for.

Is Samir a bomb designer, aiding Islamist extremists in devising an attack on America — a bone-chilling scheme in which 50 bombs will be detonated simultaneously across the country? Or is he a double-agent: an American hero who has infiltrated the enemy ranks and has ascended the chain of command in hopes of keeping us safe?

Samir’s motives are a point of debate, but his religion is not. (Read the full post about ‘Review: ‘Traitor’ Provocative Thriller’…)

Dolly Parton Laughs Off Death Rumors

Ironman May Snarl Football Traffic

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — What happens when you mix the gridiron and the Ironman?

Watch The Story

You could get gridlock.

This weekend, Louisville will host two major sporting events on the same day and at the same time.

The last leg of the Ironman Triathlon takes runners down Third and Fourth streets, mere feet from Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, which is where the annual Governor’s Cup game between the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky will be played.

“I didn’t know about the Ironman,” said Amie Anderson.

Traffic around Cardinal Stadium can be a nightmare, but add in a rival team and a major event, and confusion and frustration could rule the road — even if Metro Police don’t believe that will be the case.

“The UK/U of L game is not going to be impacted as much as you might think,” said Lt. (Read the full post about ‘Ironman May Snarl Football Traffic’…)

Woman Whose Dress Caused Flap Sues Over Web Posting

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

RICHMOND, Ky. — A college student who says she was kicked out of a central Kentucky mall for wearing a short dress has filed suit over comments posted about her on a newspaper’s Web site.

Kymberly Clem claimed she was escorted by security from the Richmond Mall on Aug. 9 over a dispute about a dress she was wearing.

Clem’s attorney said an anonymous posting later alleged that Clem had exposed herself to a woman and two children. The comment was posted on a forum on the Richmond Register newspaper’s Web site.

Attorney Wesley Browne said the comment was false and malicious. The newspaper erased the comment and the poster, known as ‘12bme,’ was banned. (Read the full post about ‘Woman Whose Dress Caused Flap Sues Over Web Posting’…)
