Country Stars Expected At RNC

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Country music stars John Rich, Gretchen Wilson and Cowboy Troy are slated to entertain Republicans this week at the national convention in St. Paul, Minn., but apparently not all country musicians are united in their support of the GOP.

Steve Earle and his wife, singer Allison Moorer, were among a handful of artists performing at a concert Monday designed to counter the Republicans’ message.

The concert was across the Mississippi River from the Republican National Convention.

The “Take Back Labor Day” concert was sponsored by the Service Employees International Union.

On Tuesday, Rich, will sing his pro-John McCain anthem “Raisin’ McCain” at the convention.

Rich is also slated to perform “Our America” with Wilson and Cowboy Troy at the convention.
