Fetus Found Buried In Old Cemetery
INDIANAPOLIS — Police said a fetus was buried in a makeshift grave found by University of Indianapolis students who were researching an old cemetery on the south side of Indianapolis.
The small grave included a marker with Baby Wheeler written on it.
Southport police detective Todd Burris said police found a fetus wrapped in red velvet, buried in a wooden box.
University of Indianapolis biology professor Roger Sweets said it was a surprise to see a fresh grave in the Mary Bryan Cemetery, where his students study old grave markers.
A pathologist determined that the fetus may have been six to ten weeks old.
Burris said police dont plan to file any charges. They just want to identify the mother to make sure shes OK.
